I want it for daily commute, usual errands through town and the occasionally road trip. I settled on the Mazda 2 basically because of the looks of Mazda's and the naturally aspirated 1.5 petrol engine - less parts, more reliable. I am big fan of the MX 5 but it won't be practical for me at the moment - single dad and can't imagine how it would be to drop my 8 yo daughter at school in a two seater. I want to go for the 90hp engine and basic low specs, maybe add/change parts in the future. Enjoy.Hi all, I have to buy a new car and after looking around I settled on the Mazda 2. There are more pictures in the gallery below. And thank you to Reg for allowing us to share it with everyone. You can follow more of Kevin’s photography work at K. We would like to thank Kevin Chow for capturing Reg’s Protege5 for us. Lastly, thanks to Auto RND for the new coils, and mounting and balancing the wheels. And thank you to CarsxHype for making him apart of the crew. Reg would like to thank Dave and Chris at Memoryfab for helping out build the wheels, and his best friend Alex for helping put them together. Surprised they aren’t broken yet (knock on wood). Reg’s great fitment of wheels, tires, and custom fiber glass fender flares. This jungle gym was provided by an Auto Power roll cage and GTspec rear trunk brace.

After 4 years of working on the car through its different stages, here Reg is now. So this was the best option instead of having a body shop fix the fenders.Įvery time Reg saw a car with aggressive fitment and slammed he just had a vision of what his car should be. Reg chose to go with the fender flare route after seeing Rocky’s White Mazda 3 do it, and especially after ruining his fenders trying to slam his car like Shavi’s Red Mazdaspeed 3. The main reason he wanted a wagon was to fit his big 18″ inch sub-woofer in the back, which fit perfectly you could hear him from a mile away. Reg only ended up with one of those three as we can see. He wanted three things from the next car: rear wheel drive, hatchback/wagon, and fast. Reg bought his Protege5 after his 190e Mercedes motor went out. Growing up from one hobby of riding and messy around with BMX bikes to another hobby of being able to drive and modify cars was thanks to Reg’s friend Alex. If you want to submit your car to see if we are interested in featuring it here, make sure to email us at To start us off we have Reg Rivera’s 2002 Sunlight Silver Mazda Protege5 from San Francisco, California. This is the first time we have featured a Protege5 on here not because we don’t like them, but because we never get submissions from this model. Even though Mazda Fitment have been around for a number of years now, we still have a lot of things to check off our feature list for the various Mazda models out there.
